Don Richards
M. Div, M.S., LPC, LMFT, NCC
Don Richards is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, as well as an ordained minister and Certified First Responder Chaplain. He draws from over four decades of counseling with individuals, marriages and families. He believes counseling is a unique vocational call which combines research based, psychological principles with solid spiritual principles which produces hope and restoration.
Don is a graduate of Covenant College and has received his Masters of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary. He also earned his Masters in Counseling Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi. He is licensed by the state of Alabama as a Professional Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, and is a Clinical Supervisor. Don is a Nationally Board-Certified Counselor and holds certifications as a Master Addictions Counselor as well as Diplomate status in the American Psychotherapy Association.
Don is past chairman of the of the Biblical Counseling Department at Birmingham Theological Seminary. He has been a guest lecturer at Beason Divinity school, UAB Department of Counseling as well as numerous churches and religious groups. Drawing from over 40 years of private and group practice, he has significant experience and expertise in individual counseling for depression, anxiety, personality disorders, bi-polar disorders, PTSD and Military Veterans. He also enjoys working to assist troubled marriages and families. Throughout his career Don has volunteered for outreach and ministry to underserved populations in the inner city. He has had a 15+ year passion to participate in community development in the countries of South Sudan, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo where he travels yearly.
Married in 1976 to his wife Arden, who continues to serve as Executive Director for Trinity Counseling, they have two children as well as three grandsons. Don is an Associate Pastor at a local church and enjoys time with his family, hunting and fishing. For the past 20+ years, he and Arden have enjoyed a passion for backpacking together, especially in the west.
