Gracie Self
LMFT

Gracie received her BA in Human Development and Family Science from Samford University and her Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy from Lipscomb University. She primarily works with women dealing with life transitions, anxiety, stress, and relational issues, as well as couples who desire a deeper connection, healthier communication, and conflict management. She also enjoys working with couples who are in the midst of transition—beginning marriage or parenthood, moving to a new place, and other big life changes. Gracie's approach to therapy is systems-oriented, believing that we are all part of a system, and each plays a role in how the system functions.

Gracie strives to keep her therapy relaxed and goal-focused. She desires to create a safe and comfortable place for conversations to take place that are not happening at home. She uses humor when it allows, as laughter and joy is good for the soul. She is a Level 1 trained in the Gottman Method, an evidence-based practice for couples therapy, as well as Prepare-Enrich.

Gracie began her career in the mental health field working as an intern in community outreach settings, providing support for clients with eating disorders and serving at foster care placement agencies. Her early experiences as a therapist included working in agency settings where she provided individual, couple, and family therapy to a diverse clientele covering a wide range of clinical issues.

As an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, she provides supervision services to pre-licensed professionals seeking independent licensure in the states of Tennessee and Alabama.

Throughout the gospels, Jesus is WITH others. He sits with them at the table, he sits with children and enjoys them, he is with them as he teaches, and he is with them in their fears and grief. Gracie believes healing can happen by simply being with others in their pain, grief, trials, and joys.
