Rebekah Laws
M.A., LPC-S, NCC

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Rebekah Laws enjoys helping people discover renewed meaning and purpose in the most difficult of circumstances, relief from needless burdens, and self-acceptance. She believes that each of us can be transformed by renewing our minds in truth (Romans 12:2)—and that with the strength and support of God and others—we can live in and through and above life’s circumstances.

Using several different approaches, Rebekah helps clients navigate the perplexing dynamics of grief, trauma, anxiety, and depression. Rebekah is trained in the use of EMDR, a highly effective, evidence-based technique for re-processing and desensitizing traumatic experiences. She is also an IASIS Certified Provider of Microcurrent Neurofeedback, a form of neurofeedback that uses tiny currents of electricity in a feedback loop to retrain and regulate the brain and nervous system. This form of neurofeedback has been shown to significantly improve symptoms related to anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, and mild brain injury. Rebekah is a certified SYMBIS marriage and pre-marriage enrichment facilitator and has been trained in Gottman Method Level 1 Couple Therapy.

She is certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NCC) and is a member of the Alabama Counseling Association and the National Association of Christian Counselors. Her earlier experience includes two years facilitating group, individual, and family therapy at Bradford Health Services Intensive Outpatient Program for the treatment of substance abuse.  She also worked with inner-city youth and adults through Common Ground Ministries, Inc., Montgomery.  More recently, she traveled to Uganda with a team from Trinity Counseling to counsel patients and families experiencing the challenges of HIV, grief, loss, poverty, and trauma.

Rebekah earned her Master of Arts in Agency Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, including a year of internship with Oasis Counseling for Women and Children. Her undergraduate degree is a B.A. in Communication from Mississippi State University. Before pursuing a career in counseling, Rebekah worked in administrative and marketing capacities at Covenant Counseling and Education Center, Hill Crest Hospital in Birmingham, and The Gwinnett Hospital System in Atlanta. She has been a stay-at-home mom, school, and community volunteer, portrait artist, and writer. She and her husband, Rich, have been married since 1987 and are greatly enjoying three amazing adult children and a growing family.
